In just a decade, Mikkel Borg Bjergso has gone from a math and physics teacher experimenting with hops, malt and yeast in his kitchen to an internationally acclaimed master brewer exporting his craft brewed beer to 40 different countries around the world.

Mikkeller is the work of Mikkel and his childhood friend Kristian Keller. Tired of watery, tasteless beer and inspired by the extreme hoppyness of craft brewed, stateside brews, they set about revolutionising craft beer. They started creating their own recipes, and after winning several medals for their homebrew at the national Danish beer festival, Mikkel and Kristian began brewing beer at the Danish microbrewery Ørbæk.

Today Mikkeller is the foremost gypsy brewer in the world. While the majority of his creations are brewed at de Proef Brouwerij in Belgium, he has also worked with some of the world’s most innovative microbreweries, including Three Floyds in Chicago, de Struise in Belgium, Nøgne Ø in Norway and Stone and Alesmith in San Diego. He also makes house beer for some of the most prominent gourmet restaurants in Denmark, such as Noma, Mielcke & Hurtigkarl and Kiin Kiin.
